How this was designed

This reflection draws on research into human–AI interaction, trust, agency, cognitive involvement, and people’s social responses to technology. The eight patterns are an original synthesis designed for reflection; they are not validated personality types.

Trust and checking

Research on how people calibrate trust, check automated outputs, and decide when to rely on technology.

Agency and ownership

Research on autonomy, competence, and maintaining meaningful involvement in an activity.

Learning and reflection

People improve strategies by noticing, monitoring, and deliberately adjusting what they do.

Creativity and exploration

AI can expand possibilities, but more output is not the same as more diverse or meaningful ideas.

Social and emotional interaction

People often respond socially to interactive technologies, even while knowing they are machines.
